Our Teachers

All of our teachers are passionate about music—and more importantly about supporting your child's musical journey.

During their classes, they create a fun, informal, musically rich social setting that supports the varied learning styles of both children and adults.

All of our teachers have successfully completed the live Music Together® Teacher Training, which is built on research in early childhood and music development. Many of our teachers have also completed the live Canta y Baila Conmigo® Teacher Training developed by Maddie Welch, creator of Canta y Baila Conmigo. We keep our skills fresh through workshops every semester and advanced trainings offered by Music Together Worldwide and Canta y Baila Conmigo LLC.

Born and raised in Miami, Michelle has been performing since she was very young. In high school, she studied musical theater through PAVAC (now known as The New World School of the Arts). In the last twelve years, Michelle has been a member of a local band called “Apples & Oranges" performing around the Miami area, as well as acting in local commercials and movies.

When Michelle is not singing or acting, she works as an ACSM Health and Fitness Specialist and Personal Trainer. After having her children, she realized the need for moms to find time to work out. And so, she developed Fitness4Families a fitness program which provides classes catering to moms with their children. Ready to share her lifelong love of music, Michelle has become a licensed Music Together teacher and is excited to be teaching with Miami Kids Music!

photo Maria López Chacín

A native Spanish speaker, born in Venezuela to a talented musical family, music and singing have been her greatest passion.  Maria has taken the stage several times in different countries alongside her mother, Maria Teresa Chacin--Venezuela's famous folk singer, and a Latin Grammy winner.  She was also part of a group that specialized in singing to children at major events in her country.  All her elementary through high school years were dedicated to music.  Maria majored in International Studies from Central University in Venezuela, working in embassies earlier in her career and later in Financial Institutions leveraging her relationship skills.

Maria has recorded several songs, including one in “Cantacuentos” which won the Latin Grammy in the category of “Best Children’s Music Album”.  She plays the Venezuelan Cuatro, a four-stringed instrument, similar to the ukulele.  She enjoys working with kids, as she was also a camp counselor in the US and in her native country.  She loves photography and is a full- time PTA Mom of two kids, who also have taken the stage with her. Miami Kids Music is thrilled to welcome, Maria to our MKM family!

Rhea, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, is a professional singer and has been teaching music since 2012. She is a background vocalist for Pharrell Williams and her vocals are featured on the "HAPPY" song. Rhea's love of teaching and creating music inspired her to write and produce the Oohwah Kids album with her husband.
